Glenview Capital Management is a hedge fund, so rather than work with clients in the traditional sense, it manages private investment funds that investors can buy into. According to its Form ADV, the firm has nine funds under its control.

Although Glenview doesn’t directly manage their assets, a wide range of investors may invest in their funds. These include high-net-worth individuals, pension plans, charitable foundations, endowments, fund-of-funds, sovereign wealth funds, family offices, investment companies and trusts.

The minimum account sizes at Glenview Capital Management vary from fund to fund. Here’s a general overview:

  • Glenview Funds: $1,000,000
  • Opportunity Funds: $5,000,000
  • GCM Healthcare Funds: $10,000,000

GCM Investment Partners, LP is a private investment fund open solely to principals, partners and employees of Glenview, as well as a select few other individuals. For this, the minimum investment is $10,000.

Services Offered by Glenview Capital Management

Glenview Capital Management is purely centered around the investment needs of the funds that it manages. To do this, the firm creates specific investment strategies tailored to induce the returns that that particular fund is looking for. These strategies are monitored on a regular basis, as the firm is open to changing its approach based on shifting market characteristics or other conditions.

Glenview Capital Management Investment Philosophy

On a general level, Glenview Capital Management looks for three main factors in any company it considers investing in:

  • It has fundamental characteristics that are both known and knowable
  • Its value compounds annually at a rate within the mid-teens or higher
  • Its equities are at an attractive price in comparison to earnings, cash flow and overall growth and company quality

As you might expect, each of Glenview’s funds utilize a distinct investment strategy.

  • The Glenview Funds are centered around equity and fixed-income investments that are chosen through a bottom-up, fundamental research process.
  • The Opportunity Funds utilize a purely opportunistic approach in order to find shorter-term deals on the market. There is very little restriction within this strategy.
  • The GCM Healthcare Funds employ a long/short strategy focused on investments in issuers operating in oradjacent to the healthcare industry

How Long $1mm Lasts in Retirement

SmartAsset's interactive map highlights places where $1 million will last the longest in retirement. Zoom between states and the national map to see the top spots in each region. Also, scroll over any city to learn about the cost of living in retirement for that location.

Rank City Housing Expenses Food Expenses Healthcare Expenses Utilities Expenses Transportation Expenses

Methodology We analyzed data on average expenditures for seniors, cost of living and investment returns to determine how many years of retirement a $1 million nest egg would cover in cities across America.

First, we looked at data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) on the average annual expenditures of seniors. We then applied cost of living data from the Council for Community and Economic Research to adjust those national average spending levels based on the costs of each expense category (housing, food, healthcare, utilities, transportation and other) in each city. Using this data, SmartAsset calculated the average cost of living for retirees in the largest U.S. cities.

We assumed the $1 million would grow at a real return (interest minus inflation) of 2%. Then, we divided $1 million by the sum of each of those annual numbers to determine how long $1 million would cover retirement expenses in each of the cities in our study. Cities where $1 million lasted the longest ranked the highest in the study.
