Here’s the deal. If you’re a high school student heading to college, statistically speaking, you are going to graduate with debt. According to American Student Assistance, of the 20 million Americans who went to college in 2012, 12 million of them borrowed money. As of the first quarter in 2012, the average student loan debt for all age groups was close to $25,000, 10% of borrowers owed more than $54,000 and 1% (about 167,000 people) owed more than $200,000 dollars.
