Every property listing you find on the Internet isn’t legitimate. In fact, sometimes listings are fake and from time to time, interested buyers and renters get a chance to view properties that actually aren’t even available.

Thieves can create their own ads for nonexistent properties or places that are already occupied. They can also manipulate real estate advertisements and add their contact information to the listings. Either way, they can successfully collect money from the people who fall prey to their schemes. It’s a good idea to be wary of requests for you to send money over to someone you haven’t met with face-to-face.
