A Solid Option for Loyal JetBlue Customers
The JetBlue Plus Card offers many rewards for new and returning JetBlue customers. New cardholders can earn 30,000 bonus TrueBlue points after they make $1,000 in purchases within 90 days of getting the card. The major benefit of the card, though, is the amount of points users can rack up. Those with the JetBlue Plus Card will receive 6 TrueBlue points per dollar they spend on JetBlue purchases, 2 points per dollar on restaurant and grocery purchases, as well as 1 point per dollar spent on every other purchase made with the card. As long as the account remains active and in good standing, there’s absolutely no limit to how many TrueBlue points can be earned.
Those who fly often will receive a few extra perks, as well. Cardholders will qualify for a 50% savings on cocktails, food and other in-flight buys with JetBlue, although this does not include Wi-Fi access or duty-free purchases. Those savings will come back to you in the form of a statement credit. Also, you and up to three other travelers with you on the same JetBlue reservation purchased with the JetBlue Plus Card will be eligible to check your first bag free, although overweight charges will still apply.
As a cardholder, you will also receive 5,000 bonus points on your JetBlue Plus Card anniversary that will be placed directly into your TrueBlue account. The points earned and redeemed into your TrueBlue account never expire, although any leftover points will be canceled should you close your JetBlue Plus Card account.
30,000 bonus points – If you spend at least $1,000 on purchases with the card in your first three months as an accountholder, you’ll earn 30,000 bonus points to be spent on JetBlue purchases. This is available only to first-time cardholders.
6 points on JetBlue purchases – Making JetBlue purchases with your card will garner you 6 points per dollar spent toward your TrueBlue point account.
Smart Tip: Cardholders can also earn 2 points at restaurants and grocery stories, as well as 1 points on all other purchases. You can also earn extra points by booking your flights directly on JetBlue.com.
50% in-flight discounts – On JetBlue operated flights, JetBlue Plus cardholders will receive 50% off in-flight purchases of cocktails, food and other eligible buys. Not that Wi-Fi and duty-free purchases are not part of this deal.
10% points back – 10% of your points redeemed for the purchase of a JetBlue flight will be sent back to your account every time you use the redemption program. If you were to spend 50,000 points on a flight, you’ll receive back 5,000 points to your TrueBlue account.
Free first checked bag – The cardholder and up to three other co-travelers on the same JetBlue reservation will be able to check their first bag free, although overweight charges still apply.
Family point pooling – JetBlue allows families of up to two adults and five children to combine their TrueBlue points together, allowing for a faster accumulation of rewards. They’ll waive any point transfer fees for those using the program, and the Head of the Household will manage all the Family Pool points.
Points don’t expire – Your TrueBlue points don’t expire, unless they’re in your account at the time you terminate your JetBlue Plus Card account.
No blackout dates – On any JetBlue operated flight, there are no times when you are unable to use your TrueBlue points.
No foreign transaction fees – When using your JetBlue Plus Card abroad, you will not be charged additional international fees.
Become an upgraded TrueBlue Mosaic member – Spending at least $50,000 in a January to December billing year will qualify you to become a top TrueBlue Mosaic member.
Smart Tip: Purchases made by authorized users on your JetBlue Plus account will go towards this total.
Over 40 JetBlue partners – JetBlue has partnerships with 40+ companies to help save you money and earn bonus TrueBlue points, including Avis car rentals and Marriott Rewards. Cardholders can even use points to subscribe to various newspapers and magazines.
$100 statement credit on vacations – If you book a JetBlue Vacations package worth $100 or more with your JetBlue Plus Card either at JetBlue.com or through 1-800-JETBLUE, you’ll receive a $100 statement credit for your purchase, as long as your account remains in good standing.
Who It Benefits
Without a doubt, the person that would gain the most from becoming a JetBlue Plus Card holder is someone who flies frequently on JetBlue, as well as consistent travelers in general. Someone who searches the internet through and through for the cheapest and best deal on flights may not benefit the most from this program, as only flying JetBlue once or twice a year may not garner you enough points to make it worth it. But if you are at all interested in becoming more loyal to a single airline like JetBlue, then the JetBlue Plus Card deserves a serious look.
If the $99 annual fee seems a bit too much for you, and you think you won’t make enough purchases from JetBlue to make it worthwhile, the regular JetBlue Card may be a better option. It features no annual fee, but you only receive 3 points on JetBlue purchases, and many of the bonuses offered to JetBlue Plus Card members are not offered there.
How It Works
Any points earned using your JetBlue Plus Card will be sent automatically to your TrueBlue account, giving you near instant spending ability with those points. Six points will be awarded for every dollar you spend on JetBlue purchases, with the ability to earn more by booking directly through JetBlue’s website, while 2 points will be given for even dollar spent at restaurants and grocery stores and 1 point will be given for all other purchases.
Redeeming your points is done through JetBlue.com/TrueBlue, and the points required to book any certain ticket is in direct correlation with the published base fare at the time of the booking, the flight chosen and whether or not it’s during peak traveling periods. Points required for a flight are subject to change by JetBlue, and taxes and fees are the responsibility of the traveler to pay.
Spending at least $50,000 in a January to December billing period between you and any authorized users on your account will result in an upgrade to Mosaic membership. This features many bonuses, including an extra checked bag for free, and more points earned on JetBlue purchases and upon becoming a Mosaic member.
Mosaic status members are offered a plethora of different benefits that don’t befall normal JetBlue Plus cardholders.
On top of the first bag free offered for standard members, those who are Mosaic will be allowed to check a second bag free as well, although weight restrictions still apply. This is in addition to flight change and cancellation fees being waived as well, giving Mosaic members extra freedom.
Upon qualifying for Mosaic status, you receive 15,000 bonus TrueBlue points, giving you the ability to purchase JetBlue’s Even More® seats, featuring more in-flight legroom, at significantly lower prices. Mosaic members also receive access to the expedited security line, allowing you to get to your flight’s gate faster. On top of that speed advantage, you’ll also receive early boarding on your flight that will give you ample access to the overhead luggage compartments. Complimentary alcoholic beverages will also be served to Mosaic members on flights 340 miles or longer.
Mosaic members also receive an extra 3 points per dollar on top of the 6 points existing rate on JetBlue purchases, and can earn even more points per dollar if they book on JetBlue.com.
What’s the Catch
The $99 annual fee associated with the card, and the added benefits that require flying strictly on JetBlue, could deter some from this card.
Just the Math Please
A JetBlue Plus Card holder will receive 6 points for every dollar spent with JetBlue, 2 points for every dollar spent at restaurants and grocery stores and 1 point for every dollar spent otherwise. A 30,000-point sign-up bonus will be awarded to you if you spend $1,000 or more on purchases during the first 90 days as an accountholder.
There’s no limit on the amount of TrueBlue points you can accumulate and they never expire, as long as they’re transferred to your TrueBlue account upon receiving them. Cardholders will also receive 50% off in-flight JetBlue purchases, 10% back on JetBlue flight bookings and will face no foreign transaction fees when traveling internationally.

How It Stacks Up
Becoming a JetBlue Plus Card holder definitely has serious upgrades from its lesser companion, the JetBlue Card.
Not only do you get double the points earned on JetBlue bookings, as well as 20,000 more points earned when you spend at least $1,000 during your first three months with an account, but you also receive multiple other flight-related perks. Some of these perks include a free checked bag for you and three others on your flight reservation, 5,000 bonus points upon your JetBlue Plus Card anniversary and 10% points back when you redeem points for a flight booking.
However, the JetBlue Plus Card does have a $99 annual fee attached to it, which the JetBlue Credit Card does not. The JetBlue Card still features a 50% savings on in-flight purchases of food, cocktails and other eligible purchases, as well as a lack of foreign transaction fees when traveling internationally. You can even earn 3 points on JetBlue transactions, 2 points at restaurants and grocery stores and 1 point on all other purchases, bringing it even a bit closer to the JetBlue Plus Card.
Loyal JetBlue consumers or those who want to become loyal to an airline brand, may want to look closely at the JetBlue Plus Card, as the stacks of perks listed above really make a difference if you fly often enough. Benefits like a free checked bag, 5,000 anniversary bonus points, 10% points back every time you redeem them and the option to garner a prestigious Mosaic membership with JetBlue could be enough to lure any frequent flier.
